Dearest supporters, friends, family, and loved ones! The Board of Directors of Rush Arts invite you to a Rush Arts Celebration back in Brooklyn!

Danny Simmons Retirement Party & Fundraiser for Rush Arts

A funky retirement party for artist and community builder Danny Simmons, Jr., and a fundraiser for his beloved foundation, Rush Arts.

Join us on the evening of October 31st, 2023 for a celebration of legacy and continuous impact. Featuring a special presentation and conversation with Danny Simmons, Rush Arts Chairman, Derrick Adams, artist, curator, founder of The Last Resort Artist Retreat and Rush Arts Founding Leader, and Renee Cox, artist, activist, curator and Rush Arts Family.

We are writing to you both personally and on behalf of Rush Arts – filled with immeasurable pride, in the impact our historic organization has had over its 28+ years, and filled with hope for our next chapter and the LEGACY our work has continued to build.

Join us for a festive tribute to artist, arts impresario, and community builder Danny Simmons, Jr. as he retires from the Board of his beloved Rush Arts. Costumes welcome! Come as a beatnik poet, a superhero, a work of art, or your fabulous funky self. We’ll get down with great music and food while also raising funds for Rush Arts’ vital free programs for youth, communities, and emerging artists.

We humbly request the honor of your support and attendance, as we return to Brooklyn this October 31st for a special gathering of love. Your support is critical to sustaining the critical arts education and initiatives we provide to our disinvested youth; and the platform and opportunities for our artists, curators and creatives of color; and our communities at large.

This Fall we will be back in Brooklyn, celebrating an intimate gathering artists, leaders, and philanthropists, at BRIC (647 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11217). We hope to have you with us!

While we have endured living through this pandemic- for many of the youth, families, and artists we serve the loss of housing, incomes, and family members, along with the rise in community violence especially now in Philadelphia, Rush Arts current home, has been devastating. Rush Arts has always existed where the need is the greatest and we pledge to continue to be there.

Join us in blazing a new chapter forward! Rush Arts wouldn’t be here to serve without your love and support. To support and learn more about our opportunities, please scroll down. Look forward to hearing from you soon!
